About Madam Afaf
Madam Afaf is an independent community initiative founded by a team of Egyptians who have lived the full experience of government paperwork — from civil registry queues, to notarized rental contracts, to insurance office windows. We started this site to simplify the information people search for but can't find in one clear place.
The idea is simple: before you visit any government office, you know exactly what documents are needed, the expected fees, and the correct steps from the first try. So you don't waste time, get delayed, or pay in the wrong place.
The illustrations you see around the site aren't just for decor — that's Madam Afaf herself accompanying you as a visual guide and spiritual mentor on your bureaucratic journey! You'll find her smiling when the paperwork is ready, and offering patient advice when the routine is long, all to make your trip a little lighter.
Who's Behind Madam Afaf?
The Madam Afaf team is an independent group of Egyptians living in Egypt and abroad, united by real, hands-on experience navigating Egyptian government paperwork. The team includes people who have personally gone through document processes for themselves and their families: from first-time national IDs, to passports, to notary powers of attorney, to insurance and pension files.
We're not a government body and we're not lawyers — we're ordinary people who understood the system from the inside and decided to make it easier for others. Each team member has a focus area: one reviews steps against official sources, one writes content in clear Egyptian Arabic, and one builds the interactive tools and calculators.
Our Editorial Process
Every service page on Madam Afaf goes through a multi-step editorial and review process before publication:
- Primary research from official sources: Egypt's Digital Portal (digital.gov.eg), the Civil Status Authority (cso.gov.eg), and published ministerial decrees.
- Practical verification: comparing information with real experiences at government offices to confirm that the written steps actually match what happens on the ground.
- Monthly updates: every page displays a 'last updated' date. We review content regularly and update fees and steps whenever there's an official change.
- Language review: content is written in clear Egyptian Arabic to reach the widest audience while preserving precise official terminology.

Important (and friendly) Disclaimer
This website is a fully independent community initiative and does not represent or belong to any Egyptian government entity. All info is for educational and guidance purposes only. Always verify with the official authority before making decisions or payments.
Lighthearted warning: The character 'Madam Afaf' and all visual graphics are completely fictional, created to bring some joy to complex paperwork explanations. Any resemblance to real-life public sector employees (whether exceptionally supportive or demanding 4 photocopies of your ID) is purely coincidental. Therefore, we are not responsible if the Eagle Stamp is upside down or your paperwork is delayed because 'the server is down'!
